Peter, One thing that is good with this house, is that it is concrete block construction, with stucco finishing it out. The empty chambers of the blocks are good insulation. On the south side, we have a 45 foot oak tree that shades the house, and in back, another oak tree that catches the morning sun. We will be adding on to the house soon, and that will include 3 pane, hurricane proof, windows, that will also add to the insulation. When all of this is done, solar panels will be considered.
