I'll never forget that photo. If Bush had been behind it instead of Clinton, he would have been ridden out of town on a rail, and then impeached and then, no doubt, convicted.

The Elian affair got Bush elected in 2000.

Florida's election of Bush was a close one. Less that 1000 votes in favor of Bush.

The Elian affair caused many of the Cubans to vote for Bush instead of Gore. The effect was great enough that there is no doubt that Gore would have won Florida and the election had the Elian raid not taken place.

The picture made the impact even more pronounced.
