We give to charity and dislocate our shoulders patting ourselves on the back. We pay others to do what we aren't doing
in the first place.

Lets all call, write , email or go see a person in power. They always talk about the same thing, what is wrong.

Hell, I know what is wrong.

What is right and why is it right? Lets do it that way and if it turns out to be wrong, lets all admit it and do it differently until it turns out right.

CHANGE is the name of the game. We expect our 2 year olds to change.

Why can't we change. Just a little bit at a time. Please my friends before it is too late.

I'm tired and need to go to bed early. Tomorrow is a day off and Sunday I will pray. Monday I will see what I can do differently if I have time.

Jim (I go by the name L Bighorn) What the fuck is going on?

Thanksalot, If you want to blame someone for the dependency of citizens on receiving dole from the federal government, you would have to look at the demorat icon FDR. He is the one that promised every American citizen security from the "cradle to the grave". At the insistence of Eleanor, he had the Social Security act passed through a Congress that worshiped the feet he could not even stand on. Much more wellfare was put into play be a string of demorat Presidents, with LBJ being a particular driving force.

If you look carefully, you will see that both of those demorat Presidents used tragedies to run bills through the Congress while the citizens were vulnerable. With FDR, it was the Great Depression, when all of the things he tried to reverse the depression were first sent to Congress by Hoover that were defeated by a huge demorat slice of the seats of Congress. Even then, he did not stop the depression, but caused America's entry into WW2 by having the entire Pacific Fleet sail into Pearl Harbor against the advice of Admirals that knew better. With LBJ, it was the assasination of JFK, which threw the citizens into a frenzie of mourning.

Democrats have been incrementally changing the tax code for generations to increase the numbers of people dependent on government hand outs. Republicans are not willing to fight to fix the tax code. The seem to wedded ot the tax accounting and tax law industries to be interested in true reform.

There are several items that would be easy to reform. First is the idea of people getting tax refunds in excess of the amount withheld. Refundable Tax credits are a bad idea. Everyone who has any income should pay income taxes.

The complexity of the tax code is out fo control. I suspect that 95% of the tax code could be discarded without any deleterious effects.

"The political debate always is "It is someone else's fault"."

Too often this is true. We now have one party who learned from their last President the art of the 365 per year non stop campaign. They have adopted disloyalty and treachery as a campaign strategy. As long as they have a voice in the political arena and they maintain that attitude, divisions will remain deep.
