Our community was developed with horses in mind. There are lots of horses, llamas, miscellaneous animals and what not, but an acre and a half is really not enough for a horse, let alone several. Most of the horses have eaten every blade of grass they can reach, and I feel genuinely sorry for them. Some are well cared for, but others look distressed.

There is a 'bridle' trail right of way parallel to most of the streets in my area, which gives me a great network for walking. It was designed for horses but I rarely see horses on it. I almost have the whole thing to myself.

Our brilliant county commissioners recently declared this an urban area so they could ban burning, but that is a tragic mistake because we are in a pine ecosystem and the fuel buildup is such that burning is vital. Someday it will get so bad that we'll have a real blowup, and then they'll know. I think the CCs are all from california where smoke is a no-no.
