My first job was to feed a horse that people pastured on my grandmother's land. He had about two acres and plenty of grass, but I fed him hay and pellets every day. Paid $7.50 a month.

They would clean out the sawdust in the barn every year and replace it. It was a great time to play in the sawdust while it was clean and fresh.
