My daughter flew to Michigan last week for the wedding of a college friend. She told me that the wedding probably cost well into the six figures, as they had two huge ice sculptures, lobster, top brand liquor at the open bar, and 250 guest. Sure the brides grandfather was a personal friend of Warren Buffett, but does one think that with the slowing economy that the average wedding will cost in the six figures for the vast majority of weddings in the next year?

With that in mind, I would avoid companies like The Knot(KNOT). This is a wedding planner company with a current PE of 55. There might be some runaway brides in the future, but I don't think a company in this business will be a runaway winner when they are trading currently at such lofty levels.
