But it does not threaten to topple us as a republic the way that the WOT does. FWIW, I think that's exaggerated. While they've gone off in some iffy directions, they've done so gingerly, not pushing beyond the point where they have at least a plausible explanation if not a persuasive one, one that can be stated with a straight face. What they've done may make people itch, but it's not enough to send folks rushing for the exits. Toppling the republic takes a lot more than what has been done so far.
