"The separation of church and state is not a lie, but it is being misused these days."

How so?

"The reason for that clause, is to prevent any religion from becoming the rulers of a nation, such as was the case in Spain, Italy, and France, at that time. It was not intended to stop people from being able to worship in their way, even in public."

I agree.

"For atheists, and liberals to say that a Christian church can not, legally, have a Nativity scene on it's property during the Christmas season is not within the intent of that clause."

I'm sure that anyone can have any kind of personal opinion... but I'm not aware of what you mentioned above ever being a problem ANYWHERE. (Churches being stopped from having nativity scenes on their own property....)

I am aware of places where suits have prevented GOVERNMENT officials from using TAXPAYER'S money to lay out nativity scenes on PUBLIC PROPERTY though. (Just as I'm sure there would be even-handed opposition to Islamic, Jewish, Hindu, etc. religious displays paid for with taxpayer money.)

I agree that that's appropriate: the government should not endorse, nor take sides, in religion.
