Yes, those columns are very interesting. It's so cool how they are sometimes very upright, and at other times, they look stacked horizontally like firewood protruding out of the sides of hills. One place I remember them being that way was along a section of the Rogue River, but also along the Gorge somewhere across from The Dalles. I've seen similar huge vertical columns while in Nova Scotia on the Digby Neck. Always blows me away to see that kind of evidence of volcanic activity.
Must check out the columns along the Deschutes River next time I'm out there!

Your fountains sound very neat. Do you have any photos of them up in your galleries?
