I know it well. My first California location, back in '47, was Alpine. Lots of fires.

I'm quite safe where I am. It's the folks in Dayton who have to worrry. I can say, however, that the firefighters are doing an outstanding job protecting homes. Thus far, only one house has burned, along with a few outbuildings.

It's amazing to ride past the burn area, and see the blackened hillsides, right down to peoples' homes, yet no damage to the homes and barns.

There are nuerous signs up saying thing like "Thank You Firefighters."
