yes, because pandas, purchased at spot + small markup, seem to appreciate far above spot due to year-specific design, purity, limited mintage, by democratic vote per EBay auctions

for the lesser bullion coins, i favor maples (purity, popularity), koalas (purity), and then eagles (popularity)

the pandas are out of stock at hk-based china banks by this time of each year and can be secured only at the official distributor, and is not so convenient since it has only one office, involving a 10 min hike :0)

anyway, i really did want to help out on the sino-us trade deficit, and so bought eagles, besides, i like the cute plastic barrels with the eagle embossed cap :0)

on denomination, only 1 oz. these are not actually meant as spendable money, just as those big stone wheels econc10.bu.edu on Yap (pacific island) are only used for major transactions.
