For that statement to hold water, there'd need to be an absence of negative posts because they've been getting deleted. I'm not seeing that that's the case. Out of curiosity I went through the recent deletions on that board. All justified and valid. Though I no longer have my finger on the pulse of the site (I'm too busy with the technical and other aspects of it), my understanding is that the delete power does occasionally get abused, and when it happens, the offender is dealt with appropriately. I really find it a stretch, at best, to claim that what enables these P&D schemes is the ability for a moderator to delete posts. The unsupportable claims and cheerleading posts that are as present there as they ever were on SI has nothing to do with it or is a comparatively small factor? I strongly beg to differ.
