Wrong. Clinton was never offered Osama. This Ijaz fellow has been spreading this story that he tried to get Clinton to take Osama. But if you read carefully his story is baseless and supported by no one else. In other words, it's a slanted personal opinion piece, not news or fact.

In fact, expert analysis of this question by a special Fox Nedws panel including Sandy Berger clearly proved no offer was made to Clinton that got any further than some mid-level guy in Yemen. It was never sent to the White House and was probably not taken seriously.

Also, berger flat-out denied he ever heard about it while he was security advisor. And Berger was a very on the ball guy via a vis Al Qaida. He stopped the 1999 LAX bombing attempt.

Also, no Newsmax. That's rightwing propaganda, often outright fabrications. Their entire purpose is to try and smear democrats, and they don't care about facts, just smearing. Proof is when they desseminated the phony photo of Kerry with Jane Fonda even thoughb they knew it was photo-shopped. They should take the word "news" out of their name. It stinks.

The greedy far rightwing billionaire Mellon-Scaife (heir to Guilf Oil) pays for Newsmax (as he paid for the phony sex lawsuits against Clinton) and its editor comes on rightwing talk shows sometimes. The editor is always spreading trashy smear stories about democrats, none of which turn out to be true.

Of course they'd try to perpetrate the "Clinton offered Osama" BS. Because it covers up the fact Bush let 9-11 happen and let Osama get away at Tora Bora, plus the Bushes and Bin Ladens have a longstanding business relationship. How "evil" is that? Why does the rightwing give the Bushes a pass for that?

MANSOOR IJAZ never says Clinton was offered Bin Laden. If you read his wording carefully, he says the Sudanese intelligence guy wanted to offer Bin Laden, and we know he was offered to Saudi Arabia. But there is not a shred of evidence anyone ever offered the White House Bin laden. Nothing.

So the whole rightewing story is just a big fat LIE.

Just because this man says he met with Clinton, doesn't mean he offered him anything. Indeed he never claims to have done so. The LA Times was wrong to highlight this story as they did. It has since been categorically denied by all the top people in the know. But the most dishonest of all are the Newsmax types who put out these flakey fabrications as it they were proof of fact.

As I said, the Fox News panel concluded that such an offer was probably made, but only on a low level, unofficial basis in the Horn Of Africa and they tracked the offer to Yemen where it went no further. If such an offer were made to some embassy person it was apparently not taken seriously. You can imagine there are a lot of crackpots calling the embassy.

Bush disbanded Clinton's entire anti-Al Qaida operation when he came into power in 2000 and didn't replace it. Bush was warned on 8-6-01 about an impending Al Qaida attack inside the US and did nothing. Bush pulled out of Afghanistan too quickly after letting Osama go at Tora Bora. And the Bushes have been in business with the Bin Ladens for a long time.

So if there is a president to blame for Bin Laden, it is Bush, not Clinton.
