Not to get into a multiple post fest with you Buddy, but the top marginal tax rate when Reagan took office was 70%. What was it when he left office? But, boiling down what he meant to this country with raw data, seems to me to miss the point by a fairly wide margin. That bone has been gnawed plenty in the past and my stance on the subject has no resemblance to jello.

Any study on the material we are discussing would be easily skewed by any economic BUBBLES occurring during the time period to the point of questioning the results. Plus, my comments had more to do with the common practice of politicians (and their spin machines) angling to take credit for things beyond their control(including the amazing ability to control the climate).

Anyway....even if divided government can be "penciled" out to be numerically positive, it does not mean the country would benefit from more influence from a party in which Gore, Kerry, Jackson and Sharpton and possibly Fidel Castro (wink) might have some sway. If division for the sake of raw data is good for you, by all means have at it.

Root changes in governmental spending habits is our best hope, but as was stated by the last fed chairman...there seems to not be a large enough constituency for that to happen.

P.S. This crap gives me a headache.....add to it as you will....grin
