i have a feeling i would have a higher score if i had more credit cards, or more recent big debt.

I doubt more credit cards would help. I have an AMEX and a MC that I use regularly and a Chase card I haven't used in a couple of years. Paying off a big debt is possible - I just finished paying a mortgage, but I haven't had a car payment for many years.

i wouldn't be surprised if they bump your score if you are in certain professions.

that can't have helped me. <g>
