NEWS: How Did Iraq Get Its Weapons? We Sold Them

Dude.. you have no reason to b*tch!! After all, you loved Saddam.. Remember,.. you said Saddam was the RIGHT THING for Iraq.

Hell, No doubt you would have loved it if we had armed his soldiers with M-16s and M-60 tanks, instead of Russian AK-47's, T-72 tanks, and French Anti-aircraft rockets.

Btw, where do you think Saddam got all of those empty bomb casings that he filled with mustard and nerve gas? Wow.. take your pick.. Russia, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy ..etc

Never saw anything that showed the US actually provided military hardware to Iraq. Nope.. no evidence whatsoever of military equipment being sold to Saddam's Iraq..

Just commercial grade stuff we sell for medical research and vaccination research.. And we sell that stuff to everyone who qualified for a license.

Personally, I think it was kind of stupid to do so, but that was the policy then..

She adds: "Chemical warfare was viewed as a potentially embarrassing public relations problem that complicated efforts to provide assistance. The US was concerned with its ability to project military force in the Middle East, and to keep the oil flowing."

I think that's a fair assessment, given that the Russians were in Afghanistan projecting THEIR military force at the time.

And no doubt you're very pleased that Reagan did this.. Because it maintained "your man, Saddam" in power so he could continue being the "right thing" for Iraq.
