EP, out in the countryside in the USA and NZ, there are stop signs, with main highways moving at over 100 kph. People seem perfectly capable of driving up to the stop sign, seeing if there's anything coming, then going across or joining the flow of traffic.

So, the same thing could be done with a red light. And is done with a red light in the USA for turning right.

I'm aware there is a lot of law-breaking in the USA. Which surprises me given the litigious nature of people in the USA and the consequences of being caught and punished. It's quite a harsh environment legally, from a police point of view and judicially. The police actually make lots of holes in people at almost no provocation.

A summary death sentence and execution is imposed many times a day in the USA by the police. I guess many times a day. I suppose Google would have the facts at its fingertips.

PS: <About 10 years ago I was almost hit by a car running a red light on deserted streets at 4 am. If I had had the capability of catching up to the car, there would have been a crime that would have a victim... > I wasn't advocating driving stupidly through stop signs, give way signs, red lights, up one way streets the wrong way, or over pedestrians at pedestrian crossings. You perhaps misunderstood. The idea was to stop at the red light, see if it's okay to go, then go. Not fire, aim, ready!
