A superpower always incorporates force and the threat of force into its foreign policy, whether the president is a raving liberal or someone to the right of Reagan.

It would be irresponsible not to - that's who we are, and we live in a dangerous world.

How we use to use force and the threat of force is the real issue. Bush and the neocons have created a dead end with their Iraq fantasy. The next chapter will be how we move beyond that.
