My Wal Mart is the low income store. My Costco has the rich people. Middle income people split.

Bought a lake house in 1980 near the east Texas rural town of Gun Barrel. Lived and raised a family in Dallas which was an hour away.

This small town had a small WalMart (Dallas had none) and one of the first things my wife did when we got to the lake house was to go to WalMart. And she did it more than once every weekend.

Fast forward to 2006 and my wife still goes to WalMart. And Tiffany's also.

Moral of the story? Not only do poor shoppers, shop at WalMart, smart ones do too!

I don't shop at WalMart here because Costco is so much easier, better produce, better prices on most things that we use in bulk (cleaning supplies, paper goods, frozen food, cottage cheese, meat is excellent, some clothing items, tools, gas for the cars etc etc)...PLUS while Costco is crowded especially on the weekends, it is NO where near as wall to wall bodies as WalMart is...And Costco's parking lot is manned by traffic controllers, plus sometimes Police.... The couple of times I've been in WalMart it is a free for all zoo both inside the store, and outside.

We joined Sam's Club for a year, don't really like it, and won't renew.
Costco returns a portion of our expenditures at the end of every year with a nice check.....It more than pays the membership fee. <ggg>
