Since Buffalo is now a third of its former size all the towns around it like Niagara Falls are full of houses but few jobs to support any population. Pretty much everything from Chicago east is the same story. The former manufacturing heartland of american prosperity seems likely to end up a much smaller quieter and poorer place full of struggling young people and dug in boomers biding their time.
