TJ, I haven't rendered any opinion about Philippines. From any contact I've had with Philippines people, I think it would be very pleasant. If beaches are a consideration, I would rate London highly = one can at least go to Brighton, which is not really a beach, but the water is less soup-like than what I saw at Sentosa Island.

Sentosa looks like a Pacific Paradise, but it's a disguise. The water was so foul looking I waded in to my knees, then compromised with a cold shower and lunch. I think Philippines might be cleaner, being more out in the Pacific Ocean, albeit still in the northern hemisphere, where a couple of billion people pour their muck into the Pacific Ocean and surrounds. The southern Pacific Ocean has Fiji, NZ, Oz and a few countries in South America trying to pollute it. They have got a tough job there.

I have flown over Philippines and it looks very tsunami prone. Perhaps I should put it on my list of prospects for next NZ winter. Do they have optical fibre everywhere? I'll ask Google about it one of these days.

Chaotic is okay by me. Violence, theft, lies, vandalism and filth are not my preference. I quite like chaotic = somebody isn't bossing me around to get their jollies.

Haven't been to the Philippines but liked Singapore as a place to visit for a short time.
