Whether this is literally true or not, I really don't know, but who can say that Ayatollah Khomeini embodied Islam or Iran any more than several crooked and discredited televangelists that I could give examples of in the United States embodied Christianity? Khomeini is dead, many in Iran didn't like him, but conservatives were elected recently because the United States has made itself even less popular in Iran than religious conservatives.
