The president bristled when the anchor asked about criticism that his inept response had to do with a “patrician upbringing” and about whether he was asking the country to sacrifice enough. “Americans are sacrificing,” he said. “We pay a lot of taxes.” He's been doing a lot more bristling lately. I wonder if he understands how few people believe him these days. Meanwhile Brian Williams is a strange dude. He looks he belongs on some British debating club and not a tv news desk .....yet, I think he's turning out to be a great anchor. Last summer after Katrina, I believe he was the first and only anchor of the big four to start broadcasting from New Orleans. It was he who began demanding that the feds do something. And there is not a week that goes by since when he doesn't bring up NO and the Gulf Coast and the current status of its recovery. I have really grown to respect his work.
