It's up to the population to seek the path they feel it is the best for them. It's been always like this. Today, we have many more possibilities to compare societies. Our self interest drives us to see which is the best because we have share on the outcome. For example, we know a lot about the US since the developments there affects all of us. Developments in NZ or Sing affects only the half dozen Kiwis or Sings. So they are of no consequence. Kiwis and Sings are at a disadvantage vis a vis other countries which developments inside it affects the world. Future will tell -and will reward- who's on the right path.
