Within a few days, with negligible casualties on both sides, it was all over. The Iraqi army ran for it in their undies. Saddam was dragged out of his hideout, Uday and Qusay were killed. As I expected, the lack of any sensible follow-up plan has resulted in a bad situation. Of course there is insurrection as the locals fight for control of the oil and whatever else they can, and to get rid of the occupiers. The USA is too arrogant and didn't take the opportunity to really revamp the UN to a NewUN. Which can still be done, but the USA [and other countries] don't have the right idea. They are essentially local megalomaniacs, so don't want any thing above them. Anyway, it's pretty good that Saddam was defeated and especially Uday. The USA can simply cut and run. Some other dictator, maybe Saddam, will take over and things will settle down again when repression by murder is put back in place. Then, have some R&R, then tell Iran that it's their turn next if the nukes stuff isn't turned off forthwith. Leave Iraq to sort itself out. The population isn't exactly clamouring with a 75% vote for the USA to be in charge and staying there. Mostly they like Islamic Jihad. Leave them to it. Heck, even in London, a LOT of Moslems think a bit of bus blowing up isn't all that bad and it was a jolly good thing that the Twin Towers were felled. Tell Iran to hand over the President for threatening crimes against humanity, to be tried in perpetuity in the Hague [the lawyers need another source of cash flow and somebody to torment since Milosevic gave up the ghost]. If they refuse, go and get him, same as Saddam. Prepare a pack of cards. Issue the cards. Give a final ultimatum. They saw what happened to Saddam/Uday/Qusay. I bet they'd decide to conduct some serious negotiations. Meaning NUN inspectors would be very welcome to come and ensure the nuclear bomb programmes are decommissioned and materials confiscated. Tehran could even become a major NUN headquarters [Iraq would have been excellent for that purpose, but the palaces were trashed and the USA ignored the opportunity, preferring chaos, which will, and has, cost them a LOT].
