<It was liberated> Like hell it was. There was no foreign power running Iraq -- at least not until the US stepped in. Iraq was most certainly not "liberated" -- it was invaded and conquered -- although as we have seen it is a stretch to say the US did much more than kill tens or hundreds of thousands of people and destroy any semblance of peace and security.
