"WRT inflation, a year ago here in Portland, August 2005, I paid $3.00 for gasoline at the pump. Yesterday I paid $2.85."

One year ago on a motorcycling trip I paid $2.26 for unleaded regular gas at a Kwik Stop station in LaCrosse, Wi. Almost a year to the day later I paid $3.13 at the same station. That was during the week of August 6 this year and August 8 last year.

In my book that amounts to an increase of about 38%.

"while watching a rented movie that continues to get cheaper and with better terms at Blockbuster."

What better terms?
