At least we get an acid test of the ploy in November.

Evidently what you're talking about is your perception that
Republicans, the administration, or whatever political persuasion whose views you do not share, are fear mongering on terrorist threats for political purposes.

You're entitled to your opinions on that subject.

I'm not talking about political rhetoric however.
I truly regard islamic terrorism as an increasing threat,
politics aside.

You've heard the adage that even paranoids have real enemies?

Well, whether or not terrorism is getting play as a political
tool, it doesn't change the fact that terrorism is real and
an issue.

Perhaps you don't believe it's real or an issue about which to be concerned because you believe it's been contained.

If so, that is where our fundamental difference of opinion lies. I think the threat has increased over the past decades.
I think it does need to be addressed.

Ironically, many of the same people who charge that the administration has become a Henny Penny ("the sky is falling")
about terrorism, were also the ones who were quick to ascribe blame for failing to prevent 9/11. So which is it?

That's the problem with political rhetoric, IMO. It's facile and serves the moment.

It isn't world war, it doesn't amount to a threat to our civilization or our nation or our very existence.

I'm reminded of what the old timer said about ghosts: "They can't really hurt you, but they can scare you bad enough that you'll hurt yourself."
