The Saudis certainly have a stronger air force than Iran. On the ground Iran's main advantage is bodies, but that isn't an insignificant advantage when it is large, also Saudi's armies have never been particularly effective, they don't even stand out among Arab armies.

Army to army, Saudi's would probably lose, and maybe get clobbered, but the Iranians aren't good at blitzkriegs (or at least they have no history of pulling off blitzkrieg style attacks), any attack on Saudi would be slow, and Saudi's air force could cause a lot of damage to the Iranians. Exactly how it would play out if no one else got involved isn't certain (and never will be because if Iran invaded other parties would get involved), but Iran is more of a threat to Saudi than Saudi is to Iran.

Edit - You can also look at the fact that Saudi spends more than Israel but wouldn't have a chance against Israel.
