I agree with your post but it depends on a completely different analysis, as in the problems are small groups of terrorists who can threaten specific targets; not some sort of existential threat to the country.

The frequent use of "they" in the Hitler analogies reminds me of the fallacy in the 60s and 70s in which the "they" were the communists and we should all believe "they" were all plotting continuously to destroy the US. Turns out Mao and Stalin were long time enemies, much more worried about the territorial ambitions of the other. And Ho could hardly stand either, who used the tensions between the Russians and Chinese to keep the latter at bay.

Here's a vote for better analysis.
