Here's why nobody, I mean nobody, believes the Republicans are serious about spending and open government. A bi-partisan bill on opening the list of government contractors (sounds good..right? open government? disclosure of who gets bids?) is blocked by one Senator putting a "hold" on the bill. This old horry practice is still allowed in the old boy's club. The secret Senator doesn't reveal himself for weeks..won't stand up and say: Yeah, I held it for these reasons.

Then we learn who it is...good old Ted Stevens, he of the no oath testimony for oil executives, the bridge to nowhere....what a guy!

"MASKED" BILL-BLOCKER REVEALS SELF
By Paul Kiel - August 30, 2006, 1:59 PM
A spokesman for Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) just confirmed his boss was the man behind the secret hold on the Coburn/Obama spending database bill, which has captivated a segment of the political blogging community in recent days.

"Sen. Stevens does have a hold on the bill," said the spokesman, who would only speak on the condition he not be named. He added that Sen. Tom Coburn's (R-OK) office was notified of the hold after it was placed. So Coburn's comments two weeks ago may have been duly informed.

So why does Stevens say he placed the hold? Why did it take this long for him to say so? And will he lift it?

We'll have more soon...

The demowackos are the party of appeasement... that says it all... they're against the war in Iraq, they're against the Patriot Act, they're against eavesdropping on known terrorist links, they're against profiling... so, what part of the war against terrorism do they support? None... they think we can "talk" and hold hands with those who have already sworn to murder us, these barbarian already blow up our buildings, blow up out naval ships, behead our citizens, fly plane into buildings, and so on... no wonder the party of appeasement is called the demowhackos...
