You know why people are talking about Bush's failure in Iraq? Because it is one huge costly wasteful failure.

I don't know about people "downplaying" terrorism here at home- but if you define "downplaying" the way you seem to, as "Not thinking terrorism will destroy the US"- then yes, people are downplaying it, because it doesn't seem very likely. That does not mean it couldn't ever happen, but it means resources should probably be spent on the most likely threats. I gather you see some sort of coordinated "talking point" plan in all this. I think what you are really seeing is simply chickens coming home to roost. Iraq was very badly done, and people want to talk about it. The threat of terrorism was oversold, and now people are noticing.
