I used the word "fear" in that post due to a parallel discussion about the expression "We have noting to fear but fear itself."

Much of the discussion here today, while superficially about terrorism, was really about Bush's policies wrt terrorism.
It is rather evident that dislike of those policies is what
animated much of the discussion.

My only point, and I will leave it at that, is that the problem of terrorism is real, whether Bush approached it correctly or not.

I sense that the anti-Bush political rhetoric downplays the terrorist threat in an effort to challenge the policies. It's a political game.

The danger, in my mind, is that subscribing to that political rhetoric can push us too far in the other direction. To the point where the threat is too minimized.
