I don't think we can "cut and run"- although I don't know what we do when the civil war that is clearly in progress gets worse. Apparently many republicans are dusting off cut and run plans. I don't happen to know what the correct "exit" strategy to this mess will be. At this point Iraq is clealy a failure when evaluated in light of the stated positions of the Bush administration. If you look over the many many MANY quotes and predictions, you will see that they were amazingly wrong. That's failure. If we "stay the course" (whatever that means, since the course keeps changing, as do the goalposts)- who knows what will happen. The fact that we might salvage something from the abysmal failure of this administration's planning does not make Iraq a success. It means we salvaged something- but I wouldn't hold your breath on the salvage operation.

Who is Jon Beney?

Did you mean Jon Benet? If you meant that, that's simple human interest- like OJ, or the Hillside Strangler. If it bleeds, it leads, and if it is exploitive nonsense, it sells papers. Don't blame that on the media; that's the consumer. They want titillation - sex and violence, and preferably both at the same time.
