I think everybody knows debt is the issue. Inflationists are buying commodities expecting debt to be inflated away and deflationists are buying government bonds expecting debt to defaulted away. The ignorant public believes in the legend of the genius and in historical nominal returns and so has flocked to hedge funds. The hedge fund managers are making a good living betting volatility down with other people's money. Where there was one bubble, the tech bubble, today there are two: the housing bubble and the hedge fund bubble. Housing popped. Now hedge funds must pop (As Icarus fly's ever higher the sun melts the wax on his wings, now everyone can see this except Icarus, Icarus learned long ago that bearish sentiment is a buy).
