ElM, in the early 1970s, my BP Oil boss [1986] boss was working for Shell and was all in favour of hydrogen as a replacement fuel. It's not over 30 years later and any investment he might have made would NOT have been profitable.

It is still cheaper to produce hydrogen, combined with carbon, from wells in Saudi Arabia and Russia than it is to get hydrogen.

I know biofuel and fuel cells and hybrids and all that are going to save the world from Peak Oil not to mention the Greenhouse Effect and make you all rich. Yeah, yeah. I'd bet on smaller vehicles, less driving around, bicycles, Segways, and smaller Americans before I'd bet on that. Meanwhile, there's plenty of oil in the ground and at $70 a barrel, every man and his dog will be after it. As I see people in SI are.
