No obligation, but to remain innovators in the wireless communications space, I expect that Qualcomm is intimately familiar with what the competition is doing. In fact, if I remember correctly, when IMJ made his infamous "edge will never see the light of day" comment, I believe, he cited serious technical deficiencies as the reason, which implies that he at least made a cursory review of its technical specifications.
