the 'Roki' liquor is horrendous

I've never been to Turkey but that rang a bell.
As a youth, I once took a bottle of Raki to a party... I should have guessed why I'd been allowed it.
During the evening I consumed some of it. Even at ~20 I realised that this was not doing me any good... somewhat too late, of course. I left both bottle and party and made it home, and I can still remember how tricky this was.
I have been that ill occasionally since, but very rarely. And never for so long. It's certainly the only time I can recall my bedroom reeling around me while I lay on the bed.

And I've never been able to drink anything aniseedy since. I even dislike anything cooked with tarragon or fennel, and I'm sure this is why.

He met a Turk Lady in Germany while he was attending RISD.
RISD?

I was far from impressed with Turk society
Reasons below or more?
If you liked western Turkey, you'd LOVE the eastern part. :-)

Too many feral cats and dogs.
From what I could see, that is 100% - all of them.

Boring food.
We were on the anti-turista diet we use in Mexico and Cental America. Native cuisine is NOT included! :-)

They live like a human ant farm; burrowing tunnels and homes into the mountains.
Other than Cappadocia? The cities were cities.

They smoke ciggs far to much
I think word of the Surgeons General reports never made it there. :-)
OTOH, if cigs don't get you there the car and diesel fumes or the food will. Or the bugs. They can carry some very mean germs.

The Wine is too tannic (borders on Vinegar) and the 'Roki' liquor is horrendous.
We had beer. It was OK.

I'll stick with my Tanqueray & Tonic (TNT) or Belvedere with a twist of lemon & ice (VW Lemon)
Thank you very much...

What's the matter, you want to live forever? :-)

Garments and fashions are about as exciting as German military fatigues.
Turkey is 95% Muslim. What do you expect?

If I were a Card carrying member of the fashion police I could have made a killing writing tickets.
LOL

Hey, compared to some other Muslim countries, they aren't bad! :-)

We did not see Troy
It wasn't part of our itinerary
We traveled as a family group and preplanned our bus tours
Maybe next time, but fwiw we don't plan to return to that country.

Not too much to see, although more than I expected. Schliemann tore the place apart. It's one of the most famous ruins in the world though.

Ephesus? Supposedly best Roman ruins in the world.

Also a great Crusader castle near Mersin.

I don't plan on going back either. Unless by some miracle peace breaks out in that region of the world. I expect the Second Coming first.
