Hawk:

I was just watching Steve Emerson from The New Republic on Hannity and Colmes. I liked his dedication to calling out radical Islamic leaders masquerading as moderates. In particular, he was pointing the finger as the President of Lebanon for his comments about Israel and the US.

It's great to see guys like Glenn Beck taking such a conservative leadership for the crazy jihadis in the ME. I will have to check out The New Republic to see what the guy is writing.

Edit: You have to pay $30 for an annual membership for TNR. I'll wait to hear what he has to say on his TV interviews.

<Am I understanding you correctly?>

No -- not even close. We have a moral responsibility to intervene in cases of genocide and should have entered WWII for this reason rather than wait to be attacked.

If attacked, we also have the right and indeed the responsibility to defend ourselves as was plainly evident when we took action in Afghanistan.

What we do not have the right to do is to commit war crimes. Nor should we begin by denying or justifying our war crimes while pointing a finger. First we should do what we alone can do -- stand tall for the values that make America a great nation.

Dishonoring America by resorting to torture and committing war crimes does not strengthen America -- it puts a dagger through its heart. Rule of law, human rights, freedom of speech, and democracy must at all costs be protected at home, otherwise we are just monkeys with bigger clubs.
