One of my Teachers (Samuel David Goldman) who spent his life as Marion Cheznowski escaped as a boy. I don't think I have ever seen Marion's real name written down before, he was afraid of being deported. He escaped from Warsau, and after the war somehow owned blocks of building is Warsau, but they were to be expropriated by the government on his death. His children met him every other year at their apartment, they bought tickets in Warsau and lived on the money he made on the apartments for a month or so, because the money couldn't leave Poland...... it seemed very odd at the time.
