maybe you haven't noticed, but the U.S. hasn't exactly played its "diplomatic cards" very well in the last few years.

Maybe you haven't noticed that we've been trying work through the UN but have been stymied at almost every turn by China and Russia and that's exactly what we have presently. The UN votes resolutions and never has the unity to enforce them, in my opinion, that makes the UN a superfluous multibillion dollar boondoggle.

I think this administration's tendency to treat other countries as if they were "wayward children" rather than equals has caused many of the problems we've had with countries like Iran and N. Korea.

Oh, I see, you'd much rather see a repeat of Clintons performance with N. Korea. If you remember correctly all that diplomacy did was generate an agreement that was promptly violated. Oh look, here we are again being stymied by China. I suppose the rise in terrorism has nothing to do with wahabism and the brain washing madrass's it generates.

strong secular "youth movement" in Iran that detests the policies of the Mullahs, but Bush seems to have undermined them at every turn.

You're going to have to show me that this is true since the US is NOT trying to put an embargo on humanitarian supplies but specifically other things.

As far as "ruthless suppression" not being a viable strategy for maintaining power, I think it's working pretty well in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan and N. Korea.

Please don't start putting words in my mouth cause I never said that. I'm curious how this, "The only thing keeping Irans general populace in check is ruthless suppression". , got turned into what you're talking about. Ruthless suppression is the backbone of any totalitarian government.

There is a strong secular "youth movement" in America that detests the policies of the Christian Fascists,
