..where do you see it as having gone wrong? If your grandmothers were free to divorce and own land, and work, then what then was demanded that turned it sour for you?

I think this discussion began when I was talking about how bad decisions and abandonment of traditional morality hurt the poor so much and create a majority of poverty.

Maybe you thought talk about traditional morality was about women having rights or not having rights. That's not the issue I was talking about. I don't see any moral issue at all involved in the question of whether women should be doctors, lawyers, work outside the home, own land, whatever. I think sure they should have the right - its only fair.

But after bringing up the feminism issue, I do think feminists exaggerate the historic plight of women, at least here in America over the last couple hundred years, and the social barriers. Yes there were barriers and rights issues but I don't think things were as dire as the feminists say.
