U.S. ETF's worth $337 billion

The combined assets of the nation's exchange traded funds totaled $336.92 billion in July, according to the Investment Company Institute.

The Institute's monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds.

Assets of all exchange traded funds rose in July by $1.81 billion, or 0.5%, to $336.92 billion.

Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $84.60 billion, or 33.53%.

Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $38.71 billion since July 2005, and global equity ETFs assets rose $40.83 billion during this period.

During July, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $1.96 billion.

In 2006, ETFs have experienced a net issuance of $31.80 billion.

Yes they are taking private some Aussie stuff but market cap of Rio is USD 68bil and BHP is USD 129 bil.
