No, this is meant to be a formation from classic EW, a running expanding triangle. Prechter and Frost don't give a good visual of a running expanding triangle, but they do have an expanding triangle on page 49, which they call an expanding reverse symmetrical triangle. Neely's book does provide some details on the formation. Interestingly, one of the things he says is that this might be the formation that led to the coining of the term 'whipsaw'. Anyone who's tried to trade any of the breakouts in the NDX can relate!

I don't know if it'll change your opinion, but just wanted to clarify that I am beginning the pattern at the re-test of the July lows, not the absolute low, because I think that last drop in July was a failed fifth.
