All of my 5-or-more-baggers have been held for at least 9 months. Each time I added more at a lower price after my initial entry.

I even have a 5-bagger mutual fund that I have held for almsot 10 years.

The trick is to figure out whether those returns are merely an artifact of a particular moment in the market cycles.

Once you've developed a successful approach, the market will eventually kick you in the the teeth by changing conditions enough to undercut your strategy.

IMO value investing is one of the few exceptions to that truism, as long as you have the patience to let the value be recognized... eventually.

This market sure gives one a learning experience and sometimes an expensive one.

I got a better idea. Order up all your certificates. It usually takes about 3 weeks. Then go to a back yard barbecue and light the shares up with ten lbs of charcoal and cook a Noo Yahk fancy steak. Drink Champagne liberally, or if you are like me, conservatively, and eat expensive cheeses. Turn the lights down real low and occasionally burn a fifty dollar bill to light a 15 dollar cigar. Have someone in a Penguin suit walk briskly by you with a haughty sneer, ignoring your entreaties for seconds, knapkins, refills etc.. This way you can pretend you are in a fancy restaurant somewhere in Paris.

After you have burnt all your stock, I happen to know where you can buy a junior gold mining company for about 5 cents a share. Sell your house and car and apply the money there. In about 2 years, the gold mining company will sell for about 500 dollars a share because they will have predicated the largest gold mine ever found on the planet earth, making the pre-crash purported Bre-X look like a sampling program in barren granite... (I know it was after the crash.. but before...).. and finally retire to Pacific island of choice, as you will be able to afford it with change left over for a small city hotel, a 90 foot yacht, an A-Star and a 747.
