English has never been stagnant for so long, it used to change all the time.....

I have no doubt that it still does. New words appear in the English dictionary every time there's a revision. I've watched the correct spelling of judgement change over several decades and now the correct spelling is judgment. But that is hardly a rationale for not spelling by the norm[s]. Steve corrected me on my spelling of Constitution. I'm not going to claim that I feel like spelling it different. Maybe you would.
