My point is that the in the case of both Christianity and Islam, I don't think that the core teachings are characterized by individuals such as televangelists or radical clerics, but rather are hijacked and used by individuals who reflect cultural artifacts beyond religion. If we can say selectively chosen televangelist crooks do not make Christianity the religion of crooks, with greed and dishonesty at the core, we should also be able to say that selectively chosen radical clerics do not make Islam a religion of terrorists with violence or terrorism at the core.

IMO accusing people of having certain tendencies because of religious affiliation alone is stupid and mistaken. We cannot afford to do that in a world with a billion Muslims and probably a million in Canada. If we are afraid of terrorists, we need to treat the Muslims who deserve respect with respect so that they sympathize with us, not terrorists, and not blame anything on their religion. We also need to set up an immigration system that has the capability of keeping out radicals and undesireables, and of expelling people who prove that they do not deserve permanent residence and are not benefiting Canada by being here.

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

The Fundamentalist preacher Robertson was on record exhorting that President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela should be killed!

Fortunately, saner heads prevailed against him!

Jimmy Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart were not only crooks but hypocrites.

Swaggart preached against extra-marital sex one morning but went to have sex with a prostitute in a motel at night. The next day he was his usual holy and pious self again preaching about sin and the evils of this and that with a holier-than-thou demeanour. LOL!

Bakker cheated his congregation of millions and, if I am not mistaken, he was both on the giving and receiving end for anal sex.
