Well the difference between 1 and 0.999 repeating would be 1/infinity. That one over infinity critter is pretty small. Vanishingly small. Infinity is not a number but a concept of beyond larger, so the 1 vanishes to effective zero. So if the difference is effectively zero, it's really zero. Google made me a genius --> X = 0.99999 repeating Or 100X = 99.99999999rept 100X-X = 99 Above is the trick, why is this so..? because X is infinite... otherwise what was to the rightr of the decimal in X would be a different from what was after the decimal in the expression 100X. infinite=infinite 99X=99 X = 99/99 X =1 **********************************
