I think if a Lion kills someone it's understandable. They are predators, after all. Dogs are a dime a dozen, and not endangered and are kept as pets. If they don't work out as pets, fine, kill them if you want to. Bears are not necessarily in zoos. If they are wandering around loose killing people then they need to be controlled. But elephants are not wandering around loose. The elephant is in an enclosure somewhere, right? Whether or not it is a killer, it isn't necessary to put it down. Its function is not to be a pet, and it isn't wandering around loose. What is the sense in killing it? I fail to understand your reasoning.

Its handlers are aware of the risks of dealing with a multi-ton wild animal.

They do not believe that human-style justice applies.

You apparently disagree.
