Ray Kurzweil is one of our more creative technology thinkers. His concept of the singularity, is basically one of accelerating technological momentum, technology and culture changing with increasing speed. There have been several interesting science fiction pieces written about it. (Andy Warhol's '15 minutes of fame') is one little superficial descriptive aspect of it.

Kurzweil is not afraid to address in some detail all aspects of our technology momentum, including possible negatives. He's a 'big picture' guy.

A google search will turn up a lot more material. FYI
